Preliminary Justification : Individuals who carry the FUT2 gene are termed ABO secretors, because they can form the H, A and B antigen which are produced in epithelial cells and reside on mucins in secretions (Shaz, 2009). ABH non-secretors tend to have a variety of autoimmune diseases such as ankylosing spondylitis, reactive arthritis, psoriatic arthropathy, Sjogren’s syndrome, multiple sclerosis, and Grave’s disease (D'Adamo & Kelly, 2001). The secretor status can be detected from saliva by absorption-inhibition method. Secretors have blood group antigen in their saliva, which can react with the diluted antisera and no agglutination can be seen while red blood cells antigens are added. And vice-visa, agglutination means non-secretor. Some studies showed that non-secretor status has statistically significant association with some autoimmune diseases. For instance, Dickey and colleges found that non-secretor state is significantly associated with coeliac disease (Dickey et al., 1994). As the expression of Lewis antigen is correlated with the ABH antigen secretor status (Bharath & Arumugam, 2016), Le/b-negative non-secretor-individuals are more susceptible to pemphigus vulgaris (Shahidi-Dadras & Golfeshan, 2016).
