Abstract |
: |
Asthma is one of the major non-communicable diseases worldwide. It affects people of all ages in all parts of the world. Asthma management practices and the knowledge, attitudes and behavior of adult asthmatics in the general population are associated with the degree of asthma control . Medication is not the only way to control asthma. The guidelines for treatment of asthma recommend greater involvement of the patients in the management of their diseases.Self-management skills should be developed through education of the patients about asthma and its appropriate treatment by health care professionals. Pharmacists can educate patients by providing information about asthma medications and by demonstrating how to use inhaled medications and peak flow meters. They can help patients to understand their asthma management plan. Therefore, the effect of pharmaceutical care on the knowledge, attitude and practice of asthma patients become an interesting issue in asthma. |
